Diarrhoea myths: is out really better then in?

When it comes to diarrhoea there are many myths that are associated with the condition.  These myths are handed down from generation to generation.  What was learned by our parents about diarrhoea was passed down to us, and we in turn pass it on to our children, unless a decision is made to become knowledgeable about the subject and change the myths to facts.

Some myths that have been associated with diarrhoea and proven to be false are listed below.  They include:

• Teething.  Many parents think that teething is the result of this condition.   When in the early stage of a baby’s life, there is a disease-producing bacterium that enters the intestine lining and loose stool is the result.  This is about the same time that the baby begins teething, and therefore, parents associate the two.

• Flat soft drinks.  Another diarrhea myth involves the drinking of a flat cola product that will ultimately settle the stomach.  It actually makes the condition worse.  The person should be given liquids such as water, rehydrating salt solution or an anti-diarrheal such as Imodium.

• Less food ingestion.  There are those who think that eating lesser will help the diarrhoea to pass quicker when the opposite will work better.  Eat more but change the food that is eaten. Foods that will shorten the diarrhoea include bananas, pudding, rice or carrot soup.

• Run its course.  The thought that diarrhoea should run its course and no treatment is going to make it any better is a myth.   Diarrhoea is a sign of infection in the body.  Treating the condition will help to relieve the symptoms.

• Limit water intake.  You should not limit the water intake.  Drinking more water helps to keep those parts of the body hydrated where diarrhoea has subtracted the liquid from and drawn into the digestive system.

• Anti-diarrheal.  Using an anti-diarrheal product will cause addiction and constipation is a myth that many people have heard for many years.  This is false in that any anti-diarrheal such as Imodium, when used properly, will restore balance to the intestinal tract and is safe to use with no indications of addictiveness.

Funeral Directors – Experience Is Essential

There are a chosen few funeral directors skilled in the art of embalming, burial and cremation. These chosen few, such as Orthodox Funerals staff brave the elements that both the living and the dead have to face, and they make sure your dead person has been satisfactory given his or her ideal place of rest. These chosen few are the funeral directors. As un-glamorous as that term may sound, they’re pretty much the very few who have the guts to do on a daily basis what others can’t even stomach thinking about. They handle the corpses (which much delicacy) that have just passed and have to be all business amid the wails and groans of family members and friends.  Here are few examples of what they do during their day job.

Embalming is a way to preserve the dead body in order to greatly delay decomposition. This is the reason why our beloved passed look peaceful, clean and about to enter heaven. I won’t go into details here, but let’s just say they do quite a bit of dirty work just to make sure our beloved dead people are presentable come funeral day. Once family and friends have gone through the rites and ceremonies, it will finally be time for burial, meaning underground peace the deceased. The funeral directors enter the picture again and make sure the coffin is safely underground, away from vandalism, whether human or environmental. Then we have cremation, a process that is a little bit more dramatic than the usual burial. Again, I will not go into the details, as I won’t have to in order to make you appreciate funeral directors a little bit more. Cremation is basically the burning of the bodies and will send you home with his or her ashes in a jar for you to keep or perhaps sprinkle along the ocean while on a cruise or maybe pour it over your favorite cliff. You get the idea. I don’t know about you, but I personally won’t be able to stand burning a body, dead or otherwise. No less will I be able to stand collecting the ashes, meaning bone fragments and such. Cremation is beautiful and a great form of respect and love for a deceased person, but for the love of me I just can’t imagine myself lighting anyone on fire.

Funeral directors deserve some due respect for what they do. They’re often taken for granted, while they’re the ones doing all the dirty work.  For more information on Funeral Costs, visit OrthodoxFunerals.com.au

Getting Substance Abuse Rehab in the United States

There is no shame anymore in getting substance abuse rehab in the United States. Years ago, people lied about attending rehab facilities, these people even secretly went to AA meetings held in basements of churches just so no one would know they had a problem. Today, having an addiction isn’t a dirty little secret anymore. Most of the public understands that addiction is a physical problem just like having cancer.

Thankfully being addicted to alcohol is now seen as a problem, not a moral failure. If you, or a loved one, feels that their drinking problem is getting out of control, there are numerous alcohol treatment facilities across the nation that will provide non-judgmental help.

Drug rehab is also being seen in the same non-judgmental way by the public, especially with so many people becoming addicted to prescription drugs. It may be easy to look down on a heroin addict who starts using for fun, but it’s hard to look down on someone who starts taking prescription painkillers prescribed by a doctor. This same attitude is slowly trickling down to an understanding that all drugs can cause an addiction. Don’t ever let shame get in the way of finding yourself or your loved ones the help they need. There is no shame in getting help but there is shame in refusing to do so because you don’t want to “look bad” in front of family and friends.
